With the first-ever World Series game being played at Citi Field on Friday, the Mets are bringing out a few big guns of their own, in regards to the national anthem. He performed in 2000 during the famous cross-city battle between the Mets and Yankees.
Joel, a Long Island native, sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” before Game 2 of the 1986 World Series between the Mets and the Boston Red Sox.

The Royals have already announced that Royals legend George Brett would be throwing out the first pitch of Game 1 in Kansas City. “They’re very confident. The Mets don’t even have to be playing in the same stadium as Joel for him to put the Star Spangled hex on them.
