Curfew continues only in 3 south Kashmir districts

He said areas falling under the jurisdiction of 11 police stations in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir were also placed under curfew.

Shops, schools and businesses remained shut in the city while vehicles are off the roads.

He said Kashmiri people, particularly youth, had resolved that their first priority would be mission of freedom from Indian occupation and no other need or necessity would come to their way.

At least two civilians were injured in the clashes. Forty-seven persons were killed and 5,500 others injured in clashes following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.

Meanwhile, instead of opening political negotiations, India continues to “unabashedly” use military force in the Occupied Kashmir to maintain a status quo that for years has suffocated millions in the region, according to an op-ed published in influential New York Times.

The clashes that followed have so far claimed at least 48 lives and caused injuries to almost 5,600 persons, including 2,228 J&K Police personnel, 1,100 CRPF men and 2,259 civilians.

However, indicating a hardening position on separatists, Singh asked Pakistan to “change its mindset on Kashmir” and stressed that “terrorism in any form will not be tolerated”.
