One youth identified as Danish Ahmad, 18, was killed in firing by the security when a mob pelted stones at a passing army convoy in Rafiabad area of Baramulla district on Wednesday.

Latest killing has raised death toll during ongoing Kashmir Intifada to 87. Almost 100 protestors, including 60 in south Kashmir, were said to have been injured in the clashes.
Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by the Zonal Police Headquarters Kashmir, curfew has been lifted from whole of the Kashmir valley except two Police Stations of Nowhatta and M R Gunj in Srinagar.
Business establishments, schools and colleges have not opened in response to separatists’ call for a shutdown in the Valley.
Kashmir has been reeling from nearly daily protests against the Indian rule since the death of a popular militant leader on July 8 in a gunbattle with soldiers.
The separatist camp has extended the strike call in the kashmir valley till 1st September. Around 200 people were reportedly injured in over 100 clashes between the separatist demonstrators and the police. The army opened fire as the protestors refused to disperse after tear smoke shells and pellets were fired at them.
Elsewhere, protesters torched the guardroom and house of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Rajya Sabha member Nazir Ahmed Lawey and decamped with four rifles of security guards in Hanad Chawalgam village of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
On Wednesday, the authorities had lifted curfew from all areas of Kashmir for the first time since July 9, the day violent protests began after the death of a Hizbul Mujahideen leader. Over 70 people have been killed and 11,000 injured in clashes between security forces and protesters.
They said that scores of people, including 60-year-old Sara Bano, were injured in the forces’ action and was shifted to Sub-district hospital Dooru for treatment.
A government spokesperson told the daily that barring a few incidents of stone-pelting in south Kashmir, the Valley was peaceful the whole of Sunday.

Minister of Home Affairs Rajnath Singh will be leading an all-party delegation to Jammu and Kashmir on September 3 for talks with Kashmiris and to take stock of the present situation.
