Singh told the media at the end of a two-day visit that he is concerned about the situation and that the Prime Minister is also anxious about the current state of affairs. Addressing media here after completing a two-day visit to the Kashmir Valley, Singh, indirectly referring to Pakistan’s attempts to fan tensions in the region, said, “We do not need the involvement of any third party to address the situation in Kashmir”.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was very concerned over the situation in the valley.
“This should stop. Pakistani’s role is not right”.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today lashed out at Pakistan for instigating youths in Kashmir to take up arms, saying it has to change its policy, and asked the centre to revoke AFSPA on trial basis from selected areas as a beginning towards “winning the hearts” of people.
Expressing sympathies with the families of deceased and those injured in the current unrest, Rajnath Singh assured all support to facilitate treatment of all injured children at AIIMS in Delhi. Singh also asked forces to exercise maximum restraint while dealing with stone-pelters, adding the government would set up a panel to look for an alternative to pellet guns.
Home minister said that New Delhi did not want any “forcible” bond with Jammu and Kashmir but a relationship based on emotions. We will constitute a expert committee to find out ways to use non-lethal weapons. “We will talk to the chief minister here and we will work only after taking her into confidence”. “Kashmir will be an abode of humanity”, he pledged. They said the authorities have converted Kashmir into a slaughter house by spilling blood of innocent Kashmiri youth.
“If there are differences of opinion, those can be resolved through dialogue”.
“I would like to tell our neighbouring country, you yourself are affected by terrorism”. You attacked Lal Masjid (in Lahore) to kill terrorists but you are sending guns for youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
Government of India Sunday ruled out any kind of dialogue until and unless “peace and normalcy is restored in Kashmir”. He further added that, “Pakistan itself is a victim of terrorism and it must not encourage violence in Kashmir”.
The situation across the Valley is peaceful so far, an official said.
