Curfew was Friday re-imposed in many parts of Kashmir including Srinagar as a precautionary measure ahead of Friday prayer congregations even as normal life remained paralysed in the Valley for the 56th day.

Though police said that curfew will remain in force today also in the down town, Shehar-e-Khas (SeK), Batmaloo and Maisuma, situation elsewhere in Srinagar was no different as people were being directed to remain indoors by the security forces.
The Valley has been hit by violent protests following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8.
A police officer said clashes erupted Sunday when police tried to stop the marchers heading to a village in Shopian district in response to a call from separatist groups challenging India’s sovereignty over Kashmir.
NPP leader Harsh Dev Singh told ANI the terrorist openly issuing threats of turning Kashmir into a graveyard for the security forces needs to be taken very seriously by the state and the government of India. Shopian’s mini-secretariat was set afire by protesters after the police disallowed a major rally.
Protestors also attacked the house of ruling PDP MLA from Tral constituency Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, breaking the window panes of the building.
The spokesman said curfew has been lifted from the other areas of the city where it was in force yesterday.
“Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has chose to take a lenient view on this because of the forthcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival”, a senior officer of the state government said.
10 incidents of stone pelting were reported from Srinagar, Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian, Awantipora and Sopore, he said.
For the 56th consecutive day, educational institutions, main markets and public transport have remained suspended.

A complete shutdown was observed in Bhaderwah, Kishtwar and Gandoh areas of Jammu region against the harassment and arrest of people and against civilian killings in the Kashmir Valley. Indian troops and police personnel fired pellets, bullets and teargas shells to disperse the protesters at various places injuring hundreds of people.
