Curry annoyed by shin injury

Klay Thompson scored 22 of his 36 points in the first quarter and Curry added 17 before sitting out the fourth to rest his ailing leg in Golden State’s 109-88 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday night.

Last week Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry had to miss two games as he was dealing with an injury to his lower leg. Curry has played in the teams last three games but in those games he has been in and out of the lineup as he has aggravated the injury several times.

Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry watches from the bench during the first half the team’s NBA basketball game against the Dallas Mavericks, Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, in Dallas.

“I’m not going to sit out four weeks, so we’ve just got to figure out how to protect it when I’m out there on the floor and keep playing”, said Curry, who is listed as questionable for Friday’s game at Portland on the team’s injury report. “Long-term, it’s not something I have to worry about”. Usually, this would just be another game for the dominant Warriors against a potential playoff team in the East. However, this one’s a little different for Curry.

Curry said the training staff has indicated to him that the shin would need four weeks to completely heal. Interim Warriors coach, Luke Walton, stated following the win against Charlotte that he “didn’t even think Steph was going to play”.

The younger splash brother is catching fire of late, his most recent victims being the Charlotte Hornets, who Thompson and the Warriors swatted away by a score of 111-101.

“We did do some good things but we did a lot of things that we shouldn’t have done as well”, Walker said.

The Warriors improved their league-best record to 33-2 by beating the Lakers, who fell to 8-28.

Green had 10 points, 11 rebounds and 16 assists in a 114-110 road win against the Rockets in which the Warriors played without Curry.

DeMarcus Cousins scored 35 for his third straight 30-point game for the Kings, including a buzzer-beating layup for a 98-all tie at the end of regulation.

Jordan Clarkson led the Lakers with 23 points, but their next-highest scorer was Lou Williams with 10 points despite going 0 for 7 from the field.

Paul George scored 32 points on 12-for-29 shooting for IN, but his 3-pointer from the right corner bounced off the rim on the game’s final play.

Close behind Green were Curry and Thompson, who scored 30 points apiece. The Warriors went on a 14-2 run, capped off by a Thompson three. Los Angeles, which was without veteran Kobe Bryant, had a three-game winning streak snapped. We do have to get better. “He just moves without it, and once he gets the ball, within a second that can be three points”. The Hornets mounted their biggest threat early in the third quarter, getting back-to-back 3-pointers from shooting guard Jeremy Lin and small forward PJ Hairston in an 11-4 run that closed an eight-point halftime deficit to 66-65.
