Curry named AP athlete of the year
It is tempting to wonder what Curry would have had to sacrifice had he entered the league in, say, the 1990s. From Draymond Green’s playoff intensity to Stephen Curry’s back-from-the-locker-room injury heroics, this didn’t feel like any normal game.

“Obviously any injury Steph has is very concerning, but he said he felt good”, Walton said. “We got stops and pretty much grinded it out”. He has become the face of the National Basketball Association and the Warriors have become the NBA’s must-watch team. A 28-1 start to the season isn’t hurting his prospects of matching it in 2016, either. “That what excites me”.
Shooting guard Klay Thompson, who like Curry made only one 3-pointer, added 18 points for the Warriors, who opened a five-game homestand with four straight wins. “What you saw today was not high-scoring with a lot of runs, it was a lot of back and forth with a lot of defence”, Livingston said. “Those type of games are going to happen”. The reliance on the three pointer and the modern evolution of basketball goes way beyond Steph Curry, he’s just been the one to flawless it. We needed to make a few buckets here and there but everyone was off and we still only lost by six against the best team in the National Basketball Association this season. “Credit their defence, for sure”.
“But I’m trying to win the game, so I want to try anything I can to get them out of their rhythm, limit their possessions as much as I can, put them to sleep”.
Houston were led by James Harden, who had 20 points, and Dwight Howard who scored 11 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. With a chance to inch closer, James missed two free throws. Green finished with 22 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists and two blocks and was the best player on the floor despite the presence of Curry and LeBron James. Andre Iguodala and Green each made a pair of free throws to send the Cavs home empty again.
But is James right?
In Oklahoma City, Jimmy Butler scored 23 points, and Pau Gasol had 21 points and 13 rebounds in Chicago’s 105-96 victory over Oklahoma City.
Eight of those points came on four consecutive hoops early in the fourth quarter as the Warriors, who led nearly the entire game, were struggling to keep the Cavaliers at arm’s length.
At the Staples Center, the Los Angeles Clippers held on for a 94-84 win against the Lakers. And even without Harrison Barnes and Leandro Barbosa – both of whom had some big moments against the Cavs in the Finals – the Warriors found enough offense to get the team through the stretches when Curry and Thompson were on the bench or ineffective.

You just know that, despite their politically correct responses following the game, they took some extra satisfaction in winning as the short-handed team, playing the Cavaliers’ preferred style.
