Curry scores 33 to help Warriors overpower Thunder
The Warriors and Thunder provided a little deja vu Thursday night, as Golden State rode a late surge past Oklahoma City 121-104, their second win over the Thunder in six days. He also tied the record for maximum three-pointers in a National Basketball Association game by posting 12 against Thunder, as reported by ESPN.

Number of consecutive wins the Golden State Warriors have chalked up at their home stadium, the Oracle Arena, where they are unbeaten so far this season.
“It’s an incredible accomplishment and special for our fans”, Curry said. But it sure seems like things get even more stagnant with the game on the line. He had better scoring stretches, including a five-game stretch in March 1987 when he went for 40, 40, 46, 56, and 40 in consecutive games, averaging 44.4 ppg / 4.8 apg / 4.8 rbg.
The Warriors took a 44-38 lead in the second quarter, but coach Steve Kerr was livid after the Thunder tied the score with three straight baskets coming off offensive rebounds.
With 22 games left now on the schedule for the Warriors, the team would need to go 18-4 to assure themselves of setting a new record.
Kevin Durant scored 32 points, Russell Westbrook had 22 and Serge Ibaka added 20 for the Thunder, who have lost six of eight since the All-Star break.
“We’ve definitely got to get it under control”, Durant said. “We want to win a bunch of games in the regular season, (and) that’s cool, but we’re fooling ourselves with the way we’re playing”.
The Warriors, who trailed by as many as nine in the third quarter and were down 83-82 entering the final period, took the lead for good on backup guard Shaun Livingston’s two free throws in the first minute of the final quarter. “We try to come in and all do our parts and do our jobs and hopefully overwhelm them over a 48-minute game”.
Still, Curry completed a 3-point play to push the lead to 106-97 and hit two 3-pointers later in the fourth. Klay Thompson wasn’t at his best, either – he put up 21 but needed 19 shots with a 1-of-7 mark from three-point range to get there.
Curry (ankle) is questionable for the rematch because of an injury he suffered against the Thunder and the ailment forced him to sit out Tuesday’s 109-105 overtime victory over the Atlanta Hawks.
NOTES: Warriors PG Stephen Curry on Thursday was selected the NBA Western Conference Player of the Month.
The Golden State Warriors are in the midst of a historic tear, having won 50 of their first 55 games this season, including 24 straight to start the year.
“I don’t think I had to do anything extracurricular to get the 53 points”, said Jordan. I understand they both struggle on the defensive side of the ball, but Foye and Waiters aren’t great defenders either.
Sportsbook.ag lists Golden State at -400 to break the record, meaning the book believes the Warriors have an 80 percent chance of accomplishing the feat. Through games played Friday, the Spurs (52-9) were only 3 1/2 games behind Golden State in the standings. We can’t have no wakeup calls at the end of the season.
