Curry ties National Basketball Association record, now has 3s in 127 consecutive games

Curry made a pair of free throws with 18.5 seconds left to get to the 40-point mark for the ninth time this season, and soon the Warriors walked off a victor for the 51st time in 56 games this season (see full recap). He’ll have a chance to continue the streak and take the title on Thursday, when the Warriors go up against the Orlando Magic.

On the ensuing play Green was swatted by Whiteside on a three-point attempt but grabbed the rebound and passed it back to Curry, who quickly hoisted a triple and knocked it down, putting the Warriors up by two and crushing the hearts of Heat fans. Curry scored 14 points in the third as Golden State cut Miami’s lead to 83-80. Wade and Whiteside both got off to 5-for-5 starts from the field….

Warriors: Golden State now leads the all-time series against the Heat, 28-27….

-They have had no ties after the first quarter or the first half, which does seem statistically odd to me but is meaningless to this point.

Curry lead all scorers with 42 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 39.3 seconds left, supported by 33 points from Warriors “Splash Brothers” backcourt partner Klay Thompson.

This season, the Warriors have lost games at Milwaukee, at Dallas, at Denver, at Detroit and at Portland – that’s three out of five teams that aren’t even expected to make the playoffs.

Warriors point guard Stephen Curry scored 42 points, and shooting guard Klay Thompson added 33 points, including 15 straight in the fourth quarter.

“Not a whole lot to say after that one”, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.

“That’s a pretty outrageous number”, Curry said of Korver’s 127-game streak.

Then, with 2:15 to play, Heat forward Luol Deng converted a 3-pointer to tie it 104-104, setting up a dramatic final two minutes.

With the Warriors ahead, 114-110, Curry made two free throws with 18.5 seconds left. The referees were content to allow a very “grabby” game, as Stephen Curry was absolutely ridden by players like Josh Richardson (ye of a 4.08 PER), who is apparently related to Seattle Seahawks corner back Richard Sherman. But you can bet Whiteside was extra motivated to close out Green 25 feet from the basket, 47:30 into the game, and swat the shit out of his shot.

The previous record had been held by Dana Barros, whose record of 89 matches in a row with at least one three-pointer was set between December 1994 and January 1996, when Barros played for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics.
