Curtis challenges Swansea to maintain performances after City loss

‘The season started today and we have to maintain those standards between now and the end of the season and if we do I see no reason why we can get ourselves out of trouble’.

Swansea were lucky to be beaten 2-1 by Manchester City with Yaya Toure’s shot deflecting off Kelechi Iheanacho after 92 minutes. As a result, things are looking up for Pellegrini’s side once more after a poor recent run of league form, with just four points from their last four games. I haven’t fallen out with him for nine years. We wanted the three points, but we would have settled for the one’.

First-team coach Alan Curtis will take charge of Swansea at Manchester City on Saturday following the dismissal of Garry Monk in midweek.

The Swansea fans in The Transfer Tavern have laughed off suggestions that Giggs will be the club’s next manager and don’t see him as a contender for the role.

Former Sunderland and Brighton boss Gus Poyet, who is now at Greek club AEK Athens, is expected to be among the names discussed.

Gray’s arrival means Fulham can afford to wait for Monk to finalise his pay-off from Swansea, which could run into the New Year, but they would want assurances he is interested in the Craven Cottage job.

“I want to spend Christmas at home with the family if I can, but if the right job comes up that really excites me I’m ready to go”.

‘If that takes longer then so be it, we will carry on, but I hope thinks are sorted straight away.

‘Garry made sure his best wishes were past to the players. It is still Garry’s team. We have lost managers in the past but it felt much more personal, he’s been with the club 10, 11 years as a player and a couple as a manager.

‘Everyone was a little bit sad and determined to get something from the game. It has been a amusing old week. They need a reliable finisher, Wilfried Bony never having been satisfactorily replaced, but otherwise they are still the side that won so many plaudits last season and against City they showed it.
