Cutler, Bears hold off Packers 17-13 at rainy Lambeau Field
If ever there was an National Football League game set up as a gimme victory, this was it. The opposing quarterback was the Chicago Bears’ Jay Cutler, who never had won at Lambeau.

The Bears defense held Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a 62.4 passer rating Thursday night, his lowest in 61 career home games.
The highlight for Green Bay turned out to be the return of Favre, whose name and No. 4 was unveiled at halftime with the club’s other retired numbers.
“You know it was a special event to see Bart Starr at the game as well as legendary Brett Favre all in town, so this loss was a little bitter I think.” said Bryfczynski.
But in a short week of work, the Bears were better prepared than the Packers, putting together a game plan to frustrate Aaron Rodgers. But Lacy also fumbled, which led to one of the Bears (5-6) two touchdowns on the night. However, it will be overshadowed in some ways due to the on-field performance that followed by the Packers in the second half. And for the Bears, the Packers are the measuring stick that determines success or failure – and whether coaches and GMs keep their jobs or not.
“A huge win for this team”, safety Chris Prosinski said. It’s great that Mike McCarthy and Clements are limiting his touches (17 on Thursday) because he does not shy from contact, but the powers that be might have to do the unthinkable and call more run plays if the passing game stays in its funk. Chicago recovered the ball at the Green Bay 34-yard line. With a number of Bears in coverage and the heat coming, Rodgers throws it to Davante Adams but it’s a bit high.
Two throwaways made it third-and-goal with 36 seconds to play. As he was being hauled down, Rodgers threw into the corner of the end zone to receiver James Jones, but Porter knocked the ball away. The ball hit off Adams’ hand and fell incomplete. Cutler completed four of his five passing attempts on the drive, and he tied the game with a three-yard touchdown pass to tight end Zach Miller. Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery caught seven passes for 90 yards.
Rodgers finished 22-for-43 for 202 yards with one touchdown pass and one interception.
One aspect they did perform well with was converting a first-quarter fumble recovery by Lamarr Houston into a TD.
Porter is the former New Orleans cornerback who in a Super Bowl intercepted Peyton Manning with Indianapolis driving in the fourth quarter and returned it 74 yards for the clinching touchdown.
The offense again looked lost and delirious in Thursday night’s 17-13 loss to the Chicago Bears. Green Bay was on the worse end of dropped passes and a bad shotgun snap, too. Adams, however, ran into another Bears defender as he broke in.
But a reserved Cutler didn’t partake in the meal despite the fact that the victory was his first in five tries in Green Bay.
All eyes were on the running back split in Matt Forte’s return from a knee injury, and he played 37 of the 67 snaps (55 percent) compared to Jeremy Langford’s 30 snaps (45 percent).

Robbie Gould’s 21-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for Chicago was the only scoring for either team in the second half in a game played dreary conditions. Final notes on Porter, he was targeted 10 times but gave up just two catches for 23 yards.
