If Cutler can not play against the Cowboys on Sunday, quarterback Brian Hoyer will start in his place.

Jay Cutler reportedly played Monday night’s game with ligament damage in his right thumb.

The Bears will turn to veteran journeyman Brian Hoyer for at least the next two games.

Cutler said after the game that he wasn’t bothered by McPhee’s outburst. “We’ll evaluate tomorrow. We’ve got practice tomorrow, we’re on a short week already”.

Cutler fractured the same thumb in 2011 and was forced to undergo surgery. Nose tackle Eddie Goldman (sprained ankle) left the field on a cart.

In 44 career games, Hoyer has completed 58.3 percent of his passes for 7,241 yards (7.2 yards per attempt), 38 touchdowns and 26 interceptions.

Cutler went 12 for 17 for 157 yards and an interception in the loss, which he left early with an injury to his thumb. It was his first action as a Bear since the preseason finale, and he said he can benefit from that time.

“I think the way our games have gone, you always want more and better and all that, if you look at per rush it’s not that bad, but we’ve been in two games where we’ve been trailing and your run numbers usually drop”, Fox said.

For Hoyer, there will be adjustments. The injury caused him to miss the rest of the season.

But he knows that to be considered more than just another wide receiver, he has to make that play.

“I’m feeling really good”. “He’s been exclusively with Jay”. It’s never a situation where Coach Pederson is not putting us in a good position to go out there and make plays.

“He’s a passionate guy”, Cutler said.

Following Monday’s loss to the Eagles, ESPN reported that Cutler was concerned about the injury. “No matter who your quarterback is, if you’re dropping back and throwing it 45 or 50 times, it’s usually not a great result”.

Houston, who tore his ACL in 2014, is said to have the worst injury of the three according to NBC Sports.

In two games with the Bears Trevathan has 15 tackles along with a sack against the Texans.

The Eagles settled for a field goal, and although they eventually won 29-14 to get to 2-0, it was the kind of play that against a better team could come back to haunt them.

Hoyer had experience with a slow start last season, when he helped lead Houston into the playoffs. Big Ben did have a superior 61.7 completion percentage but had managed only 337 yards with two touchdowns, one pick and an 88.7 rating.
