CyanogenMod brings the Android 6 Marshmallow update to a number of devices

CM13 Nightlies are not stable builds, but you should still get the basic Android 6.0 Marshmallow functions along with some extra things created by the CyanogenMod team.

Cyanogen has announced the rollout of Marshmallow-based CyanogenMod 13 nightlies for the lucky owners of 7 devices. The new update will offer features such as Doze mode, app standby, expandable storage, do not disturb, Google Now on Tap, direct share and more. The builds are experimental, and while they usually contain brand new features, are usually very unstable. Though it’ll be even better if Moto G users get theirs updated to the Marshmallow, it’s going to take a while for it to be properly implemented.

The community in a blog post warns that those users now running CM12.1 YOG4P or CM12.1 YOG7D builds on their handsets will experience a “dip in quality”.

The new update brings plenty of new features to the Android One smartphone. Also, make sure to check the guides in case you’re a novice and you want to learn how to tinker with your Android device’s operating system. Google will most likely roll out the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to more devices before the end of the year. The company is planning to push the official, tested and finalized version of CM13 to users in January.

That said, if you have any addons and modules – such as exposed – it’s highly reocmmended that you also flash Marshmallow-compatible versions of those addons immediately after flashing CyanogenMod to avoid any issues.

More 12.1 device will receive the CM13 nightly update over the coming weeks, and CyanogenMod expects its list of compatible devices to grow at a fast pace.

Until now, Google hasn’t confirmed any of these, so there is no news regarding the improvements and bug fixes that the new Android M update comes with.
