Cyber Monday sales on record pace to crack $3 billion
Cyber Monday is usually penciled in on calendars for the Monday right after Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekend.

That number would be a 50% increase from Cyber Monday sales of $2 billion three years ago.
Minneapolis-based Target Corp. previously experienced traffic overloads and site crashes on days when the company offered limited release of designer collections from Missoni and Lilly Pulitzer.
But as online shopping grows more popular on Thanksgiving and Black Friday, that’s causing less of a frenzy on Cyber Monday, too.
Black Friday was the Tesco Direct website’s busiest ever 24 hours online and Currys PC World’s website had over 6.5 million visitors between Friday and Sunday. And lots of that online shopping is now happening on mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, which accounted for 28% of online sales this year.
Research firm Comscore expects online sales to rise 14 percent to $70.06 billion During the November and December shopping period, slowing slightly from last year’s 15 percent rise.
Adobe tracked 80 percent of all online transactions from the top 100 US retailers and said sales are on track to meet its expectation of a record $3 billion by the end of the day.
On Black Friday Amazon sold 86 items per second and enjoyed its biggest sales day ever in the United Kingdom, with more than 7.4 million items ordered.
$135.25 was the average order value, an increase of 4% from previous year.
This year’s Black Friday bonanza was the first time in the United Kingdom that online retail sales surpassed £1 billion in one day.
Shopper, Sergio Gonzalez, said online shopping appeals to him because it’s quick and easy.
“As we experience spikes in traffic, our systems place guests in a queue”, the company said in a statement.
Diane Boral, 33, from Oxnard, California, scoured sites for deals ranging from 20 percent to 75 percent off and ended up buying toys, games and clothes at Kohl’s site, which offered free shipping and 20 percent off.
Most of her shopping is done online via her iPhone and laptop, she said.
