Cyclist had to poop, starts wildfire

Bilbao said the person thought burning the toilet paper was a responsible choice, in order to avoid littering, then quickly realized the fire was out of his control. While he was trying to be responsible by disposing of the paper, he inadvertently started a wildfire when an ember ignited a patch of dry grass.

Carrie Bilbao, a spokesperson for the Bureau of Land Management, said: “I guess when you gotta go, you gotta go”.

After he completed his business, the man burned the toilet paper.

The man contacted them Thursday morning and his story matched the evidence found at the scene, investigators said. Some people believe that wild animals will track the scent of human waste to the human, which is possible, so they burn and/or bury their waste and byproducts, which isn’t a bad idea, but not under these climate circumstances.

The Hull Fire was reported at about 1:30 p.m.by several people off 8th Street in the Hulls Gulch area.

He has been fined for starting the inferno – and could pay thousands in fire-fighting costs.
