The film is directed by Espen Sandberg & Joachim Rønning and stars Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites, Kevin R. McNally, Kaya Scodelario, Golshifteh Farahani, Stephen Graham, David Wenham and Geoffrey Rush.

Bloom, of course, was missing from the fourth movie On Stranger Tides back in 2011, having played Will Turner, one of the franchise’s central characters, in the first three movies dating back to 2003.
The news was revealed at the Disney D23 Expo on Saturday where Johnny Depp made an appearance in costume as Jack Sparrow with Walt Disney Pictures’ president of production Sean Bailey to tease “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”. At this year’s D23 Expo, Johnny Depp was inducted as a Disney legend for his work on Pirates, as well as countless other Disney properties.

In a report on IGN, the news that Bloom was returning to the franchise was something they had previously reported in 2014. But the confirmation of Bloom’s return means he either filmed some scenes in secret, or there’s still more to shoot. As you do.
