DA’s office aims to raise domestic violence awareness

Just days ago, Shelby County Commissioners approved more than $51,000 for the Sheriff’s Office to battle domestic violence. Add abuse, criminal sexual conduct and stalking, and that number jumps to 3,800.

The event was coordinated by the San Diego Domestic Violence Council. There was an occasion that sticks in my mind and brings the complexity of domestic violence vividly to the fore. That’s no longer the case.

Jenesse’s Chief Operations Officer Adrienne Lamar-Snider said that the recognition that extends to domestic violence victims and survivors must continue beyond the month of October.

Ducey, along with Arizona Diamondbacks President and CEO Derrick Hall, collaborated on a public service announcement about domestic-violence awareness.

Galperin said these response teams respond to just one out of every 30 domestic violence calls due to their limited hours of operations, which were limited to peak times.

Local agencies and organizations that help victims of family violence must always be accessible, which means our elected officials must properly fund these efforts. And yes for a few domestic offenders we must find a way to help them unlearn the learned violence, deal with stress in a healthy safe way and save those families that can be saved.

“It is important to raise awareness not only in the month of October, but year round because it is something that continually happens”, Arnold said. “I turned my own bad situation around, to help other people for the good”.

Participants are encouraged to wear purple.

“I want to share with other women so they can do it in time before it’s too late, before it’s too late for their life for their children”, said the victim. “You’re supposed to be able to trust your partner, but I was in a controlling relationship”. Police say they were shot by Dortch’s husband, who has a history of domestic violence.

Esther Miller, one of the interviewees says, “It is really powerful when you align yourself with a community that is going to support you because, I really believe this, abuse happens in isolation”.
