Dad got tattoo to help son feel better about cancer surgery scar
After undergoing surgery for brain cancer, 8-year-old Gabriel Marshall was left with a scar on the right side of his head.

Marshall’s tattoo matches the scar his son has from a surgery which removed a rare cancerous tumor in his brain.
A father’s effort to mitigate his son’s insecurity after a cancer surgery left him with a scar on his head is gaining attention across the internet.
The story behind a Kansas man’s large scar tattoo is earning him a flood of praise online, but the only person he cared about inspiring was his own son.
This broke my heart. Alison Sutton, the foundation’s social media manager, told BuzzFeed that it was “the first time we’ve seen an entry where a dad went above and beyond shaving his head in solidarity with his child and got a tattoo to build his son’s self-confidence”.
And not only did this help strengthen Gabriel, who’s stable and off treatment though still has some of the tumour on his brain, it also moved thousands upon thousands of people, after Josh submitted a picture of him and his son to St. Baldrick’s #BestBaldDad competition.
“I would like to thank everyone for helping make this happen”. Marshall, however, wrote in a Facebook post, “I’m no better then [sic] any of the other contestants”, adding, “We are all great fathers that would go to any extent to help our children”. And the picture has since gone viral.
“I never intended for it to be this big”, he told ABC News.
