Dada 5000’s heart reportedly stops following Kimbo Slice fight
The two squared off in the co-main event of Bellator 149 on February 19, and the finale was truly spectacular for ALL THE WRONG REASONS! The fighters quickly gassed (wIth Kimbo somehow blowing himself up while controlling Dada in mount) and the fight turned into an utter embarrassment. Well, you’ll be hard pushed to see ANYTHING funnier! Both men were winded in the first round and it just kept getting worse as time went on.

The more I think about it, the more I’m starting to realize that the booking of Kimbo Slice vs. Dada 5000 actually signals a rather brilliant shift in ideology by Bellator. His poor performance was due to “extremely high levels of potassium in his blood, which led to severe dehydration, fatigue and renal failure”. Apparently, Dada (real name Dhafir Harris) almost died after the fight when his heart shut down. The statement went on to say that was the result of Dada losing 40 pounds to fight his first professional fight since 2011.
The Harris family asked for the public and media to respect Dada’s privacy as he recovers. “And we do a good job broadcasting them, and we’re excited to do it, but at the end of the day, we let him put on the product, and we put it on TV”. About 76 percent of all bets on the fight are supporting Slice and he is set at -425 to win this bout by knockout, TKO, or disqualification.

Anyways, CagePotato recently weighed in on what this freakish matchup means for the future of Bellator over at Uproxx, and wouldn’t you know it, we think it’s the best move that the promotion could have possibly made.
