Dadri lynching: Homeguard constable detained for spreading beef rumour

As UP CM Akhilesh Yadav challenged the central govt to ban beef exports, commerce minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said such fares including of cow and calf meat are already precluded. “Justice will be done in this case and the culprits will be severely punished”, he said.

Addressing the media, shortly after meeting Iqlakh’s family who had landed here yesterday night, UP CM said, “We are with Iqlakh’s family in this hour of grief”.

Three members of Akhlaq’s family including Victim’s mother met the chief minister in Lucknow at his official residence. The incident had occurred in Bisada village of Dadri. On behalf of the ruling Samajwadi Party government, Yadav assured to provide all form of assistance to the deceased’s family.

“Amid the outrage over lynching of the man in UP’s Dadri town after villagers accused him and his family of consuming beef, the Chief Minister said that “our religion and our country” allow people to live the way they want and respect their rights”.

The Uttar Pradesh government had signed an MoU with the investment arm of the HCL in June this year to set up a 100-acre Information Technology city in Lucknow on Sultanpur road.

His 22-year-old son Danish who was also attacked is battling for life at a hospital following two brain surgeries. The UP government is taking one-sided action. “Those doing politics can level any allegation… but I want to assure that Samajwadis never do politics on such things. The UP government has different policies for Hindus and Muslims”, said Maharaj.

“There has been no history of any communal tension in the village. But it is not proper to give communal colour to it. The incident should not be politicised”, Singh said.
