Daisy Ridley Deletes Instagram Account over Post About Gun Violence
Star Wars heroine Daisy Ridley has temporarily quit Instagram after being on the receiving end of a backlash regarding comments on gun violence. Between showing young girls they can be strong with her training videos or sharing messages of kindness and empowerment, Ridley was clearing using her platform for good.

The Star Wars: The Force Awakens star continued in the statement via EW.com: ‘I always appreciate the support and love the Instagram community! X’.
In her post the actress said: “Thinking about how lucky I am like”.
She posted: ‘As I sat in the audience yesterday tears were streaming down my face at the tribute to those that have been lost to gun violence. I didn’t get a great picture of the incredible group that came on stage but they were so courageous.
The comments section on Facebook is aflame with arguments for and against gun control, though the mudslinging is not necessarily directed at Ridley.
Another wrote: ‘Says the woman who kills people with guns in movies.
“Another Hollywood hypocrite speaking out against violence while getting rich portraying it”.
However, people accused her of hypocrisy because her Star Wars character Rey occasionally shoots stormtroopers with a blaster.
One supporter wrote: “Daisy please don’t let these negative people stop you from being a positive and joyous light in the world!” Trying to be more present and all that and got a busy few months ahead so wanted less distractions. She has more than 738,000 followers on Facebook where her post remains.

Some even began lobbying “Star Wars” co-star John Boyega to get her back online. Soon after, the Instagram post and the entire account disappeared. I won’t be advising my friend to come back.
