Dak Prescott not anxious about National Football League defenses
Jerry Jones later lamented the failure to get Seattle’s pick at No. 26, presumably to get Paxton Lynch (who ended up with the Broncos), saying “I probably should have overpaid there”. He has shown he is capable of playing quarterback at a high level if anything were to happen to Tony Romo again this season. Prescott then proceeded to complete 12 of his 15 pass attempts for 199 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions, while racking up 28 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Furthermore, coach Jason Garrett might see something in the way Prescott plays that he would be willing to allow him to be the starter instead of Romo.

Former Mississippi State standout Dak Prescott continues to shine at Dallas Cowboys training camp.
How can that bold of a statement be made after watching meaningless preseason games?
Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott has blown the internet up after delivering on his playing-time opportunities, and looks to be a very solid backup to Romo.
Circumstances, fortunate or not, and the exceeding of expectations are what can make the National Football League preseason great, and in the case of the Dallas Cowboys it’s led to the emergence of rookie quarterback and fourth-round pick Dak Prescott lighting up opponents over two exhibition games this month. Romo isn’t the type of player to look over his shoulder, and it’s safe to say his goal is to help the Dallas Cowboys win a Super Bowl under his tutelage. “I’m thankful for that, but a lot of hard work goes in for that”.
It’s a bit comical to be having this conversation at this point, considering that just a month ago the entire nation thought the Cowboys were screwed after fellow quarterback Kellen Moore broke his leg. It’s now possible Dallas won’t have to carry three quarterbacks on the roster, freeing up a spot for any number of veterans or rookies.
Two preseason games hardly makes a career, of course. If that is indeed the case, he has done enough to earn himself a spot behind Romo as the primary backup. Things may change in the future, but for now, he could go down as a major steal from the 2016 draft.
Dallas starter Tony Romo might just be a tad nervous about Prescott’s intentions moving forward.

And while it’s easy for the Cowboys to get excited – their bar for backup quarterbacks has been sufficiently lowered – most are taking Prescott’s gaudy preseason numbers with a grain of salt.
