Dakota Johnson, John Boyega lead BAFTA Rising Star nominations
This BAFTA award is voted on by the public, so popularity of a film like Star Wars does fit into the equation on this particular one.

The nominations for the 2016 award are completed by British actress Bel Powley, who earned her Hollywood break with The Diary Of A Teenage Girl. I am incredibly thankful to the jury and to BAFTA for recognising my work.
The nominations for the prestigious Rising Star Award at next month’s BAFTAs have been announced.
The awards are often a tipping point in the career of rising stars, with former recipients including James McAvoy, Kristen Stewart, Tom Hardy, Juno Temple, Will Poulter and Jack O’Connell.
Boyega had his screen debut in the critically acclaimed BBC series, Becoming Human, where he starred as Danny Curtis the school bully in four episodes.
In 2011 he starred in the cult sci-fi film Attack The Block.
She has also starred alongside Johnny Depp in Black Mass, the biopic of violent crime boss James “Whitey” Bulger.
Dakota said she was both “stunned” and “honoured” to be among the nominees, adding: “Thank you, I am truly grateful”.
All the nominees have had breakout years, with Larson also expected to be in the mix for awards season for her devastating portrayal of a young mother protecting her five-year-old son in Lenny Abrahamson’s Room. The victor is announced at the star-studded ceremony on February 14. She played a brutally honest teenage artist living in San Francisco in the 1970s as she attempts to navigate her way through an affair with her mother’s boyfriend. She also co-starred in The Gambler opposite Mark Wahlberg.
