The Dalai Lama has canceled his trip to the United States in October, a media reporte said on Saturday. He’s canceled his entire US tour for health reasons. The center’s president and CEO, Jeffrey Rosen, said officials are working with the Dalai Lama’s office to see if a representative can accept the award in his absence. “We wouldn’t want him to do anything that his doctor is not recommending”.

He added: “His command over English is very limited, like of all us, so that is something that people should understand”. Tickets for the event sold out in minutes within becoming available. The Dalai Lama has previously said that it would be beneficial to Buddhism as “she will have more influence on others”.

Susan Soleil, the parliament’s Salt Lake City coordinator, also expressed concern for the iconic Tibetan leader’s health, saying the group offers “heartfelt prayer for his improved care and comfort”.

The 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, was scheduled to receive the Liberty Medal in recognition of his advocacy for Tibetans and human rights worldwide.
