“He’s going through vision therapy, he’s going through exercise therapy”, Collins said. We now know that this is at least the fourth one that Dale has experienced. “If he had a significant force, that would cause an injury as it would anyone”.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver has been out since July, when it was made known he was experiencing concussion-like symptoms after a wreck at Michigan International Speedway.

Gordon is now scheduled to take over at the following races: Darlington, Richmond, Dover and Martinsville. “So, that would certainly be something that I would insist on happening before we went to Daytona for Speedweeks”. “He’s feeling better. He can tolerate a lot more”.

Earnhardt is still recovering from a concussion he suffered earlier in the year. His vehicle got jostled about three weeks later at Daytona and the symptoms started the following week. The sport will carry on [when Earnhardt is done], but I believe Junior when he says he’s not done racing. I’m 100 percent focused on my recovery, and I will continue to follow everything the doctors tell me. I’m only 41 and I think I have some good years left. He’s won 26 races, including two Daytona 500s, and has 252 top 10s in 595 career starts.

Earnhardt said he felt his recovery was progressing well, he had started to see improvements, but he didn’t belong in a race auto at this time. “I enjoy it. My heart is there to continue”. “I’m starting to see improvements there, which I was thrilled to wake up one day and feel a difference”. My balance is miles better.

“I think it’s the right decision considering how I feel”, Earnhardt said.

Unfortunately for Waltrip’s health during the era, sitting out races was unacceptable, something that Waltrip says today’s drivers should be thankful for in such a risky sport.

“I know how hard Dale has worked and how frustrating this is for him”, Hendrick said. “And I can tell you with confidence that is occurring in front of our eyes”. “Second goal is to become a race-car driver and I’m very excited about that prospect”. You were going to climb in that race auto and if you could, you were going to drive it.

“We’re taking the time that we need and doing the treatments that he needs because we want to make that goal of Dale being able to sustain the normal violent forces and that they would not produce a return of difficulties”. I am working towards that.

Stock auto racer Dale Earnhardt Jr. will sit out the rest of the 2016 Spring Cup season after sustaining serious injuries in a crash on June 12, reports ABC News.

Gordon retired from racing a year ago and has spent most of this season in the television booth.
