Dallas Cowboys trade rumors: Cowboys linked to a move for Sanchez

The Broncos are trying to trade quarterback Mark Sanchez before the NFL’s 75-man roster deadline on Tuesday.

The Broncos’ game Thursday at Arizona should provide plenty of playing time for both Sanchez and presumptive No. 2 QB Paxton Lynch, who like Siemian appears to have leapfrogged Sanchez in the preseason.

According to NFL Media’s Jane Slater, “Denver has contacted Dallas about a trade for Mark Sanchez”.

Also happening this week, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was ruled out indefinitely due to a broken bone in his back that he suffered during a pre-season game. Colquitt has a base salary of $3.25 million this season, and his cap hit is $4 million. The Broncos sent a conditional pick to the Philadelphia Eagles to land Sanchez, so they will need to get a better pick in return to make the deal profitable. With injuries to both Romo and Kellen Moore, that position belongs to Jameill Showers, who like Prescott, has never started an National Football League game.

Also on the roster is quarterback Jameill Showers, who backed up Heisman Trophy victor Johnny Manziel while at Texas A&M.

Dallas had its eye on other backup candidates like Nick Foles of the Kansas City Chiefs, Mike Glennon of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and most notably Josh McCown of the Cleveland Browns.

However, one of the biggest problems facing the two teams for making a trade is the size of the salary Sanchez has along with him. Potentially, but he’ll have to take a pay cut to come play in Dallas backing up Prescott for a few weeks.
