“If the police officer comes on the situation and he says: ‘Police, put the gun down, ‘ the good guy does”. I love serving. It’s part of my character. They also talked about the difference they saw in their son after his military service. “I didn’t see it coming”, he said. Excerpts of the interview were posted on their website.

James Johnson (55), the gunman’s father, said in the joint interview, sitting alongside his former wife and with his current wife on the other side, that his son began studying black history after leaving the military past year. His father added “I hate what he did”.
So when I was graduating high school, I got a full-ride scholarship to UT Austin. He was a below average student, ranking near the bottom of his class.
The Blaze’s Lawrence Jones sat down with James and Delphine Johnson at their home in Mesquite this weekend, where they discussed Micah Xavier Johnson’s life up until the night he died after killing five people.
Meanwhile, Johnson’s parents said they are surprised by his violent rampage and noted he returned from an Army deployment to Afghanistan a changed man.
Long before officers cornered him in his final resting place, Johnson reportedly sympathized at length with militant black-power groups over social media.
“The military was not what Micah thought it would be”, Mrs. Johnson said.
“There was a large stockpile”.
Don’t try telling Dallas police chief David Brown about ethical dilemmas involving remote-control applications of lethal force.
Inside Story – US police killings: What role does prejudice play? “We’re looking for those answers”.
The writing suggested that Johnson was wounded in a shootout with police and an autopsy will confirm exactly how many times he was hit.
On Thursday, five white police officers were killed during a demonstration by a suspect named as Micah Johnson, a former United States soldier.
Brown said the use of the robot was justified, since at the time of the standoff he knew the suspect had already killed two officers.
When his officers proposed using the robot bomb, Brown said he approved it and would do so again. “I just said, ‘I trust you”.
Chief Brown addressed the difficulty and confusion caused in the first moments of the attack by the number of weapons that were in the immediate area.
Police also said Johnson used his own blood to write the letters “RB” on a wall before he was killed.
Yet, the police revealed that a huge arsenal of rifles, explosives and ammunition was found in the killer’s house which means that he was planning for a bigger attack.
That much was evident as the shooting evolved on Thursday evening.
It’s challenging when people have AR-15’s slung over and shootings occur and crime and they begin running, and we don’t know if they’re going to shoot or not. “And I may be overly concerned about this but I’m highly protective of cops”.

The department is now reviewing more than 170 hours of body camera footage and talking to more than 300 witnesses as they piece together every detail of Thursday’s events.
