The driver of an SUV plowed through a group of protesters during a “Black Lives Matters” march in southern IL on Sunday, July 10. “We’re peacefully marching, we’re trying to get our message across”.

It took police officers about three hours to clear an area on East Avenue, where numerous arrests took place, beginning about 10 p.m. Friday and continuing into the early morning hours.

Johnson said before he was killed that he wanted to murder white cops in revenge for the black deaths.

“We’re a multi-cultural church, and we believe that not only black lives, not only police lives, but all lives matter, you know, rainbow lives, and everything”, Smith said Friday night.

“I’d also say, be very careful of those kids in the neighborhood and don’t get involved with them because, son, there’s a 99 percent chance they’re going to kill you, not the police”.

The movement has gotten renewed attention after five police officers were killed in Dallas last week at the conclusion of a Black Lives Matter protest.

“The Dallas Police Department is considered, by many, a model both for their efforts to reform and for how they protected and supported protesters, so if anything could give us reason to hope, it’s this”, he said, as he pointed to the photo. Several arrests were made and the some of the people detained waited on the sidewalk in handcuffs before being loaded into a police van.

In Atlanta, a group of protesters confronted police over Interstates 75 and 85, then moved into the Midtown business district.

The demonstration was planned after the fatal police shooting of two black men – one in Minnesota and the other in Louisiana.

“At this point. there were 74 arrests for disorderly conduct”.

“Black Lives Matter”, he concluded, “inflames rather than illuminates”. Among them is former NY mayor, Rudy Giuliani. None of the people who were shot, not the police officers, not the people who were shot over the weekend, none of them were disrespecting the police.

While balancing the call for justice from the Black Lives Matter protesters. “It’s a movement saying that state violence being executed against black people is unacceptable”.
