DALLAS SHOOTING: The moment America turned into a war zone

Police brutality is an issue that has come to a head in recent years because of technology.

“There’s just this general dissonance that’s happening”, said Kyle Hiller, 30, a black writer in Philadelphia who said he was so “numb” he had trouble getting himself out of bed on Friday. The station posted video of Carter being arrested on social media. And yet, when there is a police-involved shooting, it’s “Guilty, Guilty, Guilty”. Bystander videos have become crucial evidence in cases in the US; not so much so in the Caribbean. Police agencies throughout the country announced similar precautions. And, his action likely has increased the likelihood that officers will be more wary of black males, possibly prompting them to be more inclined to use deadly force. He said, “This police department trained in de-escalation far before cities across America did it”. Citizens spend a longer time in jail waiting for their court date.

He encouraged dialogue “with law enforcement to better identify reporters in the field to avoid a situation like this”. With the police deaths, it’s tough.

Philando Castile, a 32-year-old from St. Paul, was shot and killed by a Minnesota police officer during a traffic stop on July 6. “I’m so scared to find out how many people are hurt or killed”.

Two-hundred forty years after the first Independence Day, Americans still live by the same color codes established before the nation’s birth. The frequency seems to be increasing as officers begin to fear for their lives. “We have looked at this stuff, we have peeled back the layers, we’ve looked at the data, we’ve looked at the research”.

This is a matter of life and death. We owe them so much in return. More work has to be done.

Conservative writer Donn Marten Friday suggested that Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren-who’s reportedly being vetted as Clinton’s VP running mate-is an “accomplice” in the “calculated murder” of police officers in Dallas, Raw Story reports. To put that fact in some worldwide perspective, in Honduras-the country with the highest recorded homicide rate-there were 90.4 intentional murders per 100,000 people in 2012. These were both men that I don’t feel like should have died the way they died. Maybe providing mandatory counseling before releasing those officers in urban areas with a high minority population would help them to be more sensitive. “White people don’t have to worry about whether they will be pulled over in their cars and aggressively harassed by racist cops”. We come from generations of strong people, kings, queens, innovators, leaders, storytellers, POWERFUL PEOPLE, and we have endured past atrocities that are woven into the genetic workings and molecular crosslinks of our DNA, but so is our collective greatness, and still we rise.

Vast crowds marched in United States cities including Houston, New Orleans, Detroit, Baltimore, Philadelphia and San Francisco. “We want these police officers to stop killing our people, and when you do kill our people, I want you to be held accountable for it”. Reynolds is saying, “Please don’t tell me this, Lord”.

We can not exist in a spirit of fear.

There is no contradiction between us supporting law enforcement – making sure they’ve got the equipment they need, making sure that their collective bargaining rights are recognized, making sure that they’re adequately staffed, making sure that they are respected, making sure their families are supported – and also saying that there are problems across our criminal justice system, there are biases – some conscious and unconscious – that have to be rooted out. Each of us can do something no matter how small to bring about change.
