Dan Harmon to make movie about Michael Jackson’s pet chimpanzee
As for the plot, the Black List description of the script said: “A baby chimp is adopted by pop star Michael Jackson”. That film used 3D printed puppets to bring its characters to life, and presumably Bubbles will be created using similar methods.

Yes, Dan Harman, the man behind Community and who executive produced Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson’s film via his Starburns Industries production company, has worked with Andrew Kortschak’s End Cue company to buy the rights to use the script.
How do you feel about Bubbles moving forward in stop-motion?
The King of Pop bought Bubbles in the early 80s and he lived at the Neverland Ranch where he reportedly slept in a crib in Jackson’s bedroom until 2003.
However, even though the chimpanzee became Michael Jackson’s friend, it also created a unusual image of him in the media.
The Black List summarises the plot as a story, narrated by Bubbles himself, which “details his life within The King of Pop’s inner circle through the scandals that later rocked Jackson’s life and eventually led to Bubbles’ release”.

Bubbles story is one of tragedy, having became an overly aggressive chimp as he reached adulthood; after all, these animals are not meant to be kept as pets. The question is how much of his life story can they tell without getting into any legal trouble with Jackson’s estate.
