Dan Rather blasts Donald Trump’s ‘threat’ against Hillary Clinton
The figures underscored deep divisions within the Republican Party over Trump’s candidacy.

“Hillary wants to abolish – essentially abolish – the Second Amendment”, he told the crowd. Addressing his supporters during a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina on Tuesday, Trump seemingly insinuated that the only way to stop Clinton would be to have her assassinated.
“If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks”. “Hillary Clinton’s position on the Second Amendment is that she will appoint a judge that will make it not a personal right which means that any state and any city in America can completely ban firearms”.
Clinton’s campaign manager Robby Mook, released a statement Tuesday about Trump’s comments: “This is simple – what Trump is saying is unsafe”.
“This is a political movement”.
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani also defended Trump, telling ABC News the candidate was not known for being indirect. “I mean, give me a break”. It’s time for some reporters, especially those that often interview Donald Trump, to get a spine.
If you only read one thing: Donald Trump lasted just over 24 hours-27 hours, to be exact-before putting his foot in his mouth after his Detroit economic speech Monday.
He’s insisting he never advocated violence against Hillary Clinton, even as undeterred Democrats pile on.
In a Reuters/Ipsos poll released Wednesday, 19 percent of GOP voters say they want Trump to drop out of the presidential race, while another 10 percent say they don’t know whether or not their standard-bearer should take the unprecedented step of ending his campaign four months early.
“This was a joke. He wasn’t inciting violence”, Lewandowski told Chris Cuomo on CNN’s New Day.
In politically moderate swing states like Pennsylvania, which aides to Mr. Trump say are crucial to his victory, Mr. Trump’s standing with women over all is perilously low among registered voters: Just 27 percent of women back him, compared with 58 percent for Mrs. Clinton, according to a poll by Franklin & Marshall College.
“No trying-to-be objective and fair journalist, no citizen who cares about the country and its future can ignore what Donald Trump said today”.
He also defended Trump against 50 military experts who signed a letter saying they would not be supporting his presidential bid in November.
“As the daughter of a leader who was assassinated, I find #Trump’s comments distasteful, disturbing, dangerous”, she tweeted.

And former CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather posted on Facebook that Trump “crossed a line with unsafe potential”. A presidential candidate supposedly encouraging the assassination of his main political rival.
