We reckon there were rather a lot of monogrammed hankies in use on the set of ‘Downton Abbey’ over the weekend as the cast filmed their very last scenes of the ITV period drama.

The event was held as filming on the sixth and final season of the show concluded, and Stevens, who played Matthew Crawley in three series before leaving to pursue a career in Hollywood, rejoined his co-stars on the red carpet. All the current actors, including Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter and Penelope Wilton, are expected to attend the ceremony on Tuesday, August 11, 2015.
Tonight, the cast and crew are being honoured by the Academy with a special tribute at the Richmond Theatre.

“I’ve started already. That’s my ritual at the end of Downton, so no more getting up and shaving at 5am”.
“I think it could have been squeezed out for another couple of series, but I think Julian would have run out of ideas”, he said. They have the most delightful exchange, when Hughes wonders if Carson should call her Elise or not.
The special tribute, hosted by Jonathan Ross, will air on ITV later this year.

“Downton Abbey” is shooting its final season, season 6, and until the rumored movie becomes a reality, this will officially mark the end of the series.
