West Virginia’s days of slinging the ball all over the field in the Big 12 seem to be over for now, and the Mountaineers don’t mind it a bit as long as they keep winning.
The Texas Longhorns take on the West Virginia Mountaineers today in a game on the Big 12 college football schedule which sees both teams working their way through mediocre 2015 seasons below expectations, but each team coming off a key win which they hope will set things back on track.
On the heels of an inefficient, ineffective five-game stretch in which he never completed more than 55 percent of his passes, quarterback Skyler Howard impressed in a more limited role, completing 10 of his 12 passes for 122 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. West Virginia started the season strong with three wins but then went on a four game losing streak.
Texas’ rush defense (89th in FBS) is allowing 187.2 yards per game, and will be tasked with slowing down a backfield duo in Wendell Smallwood and Rushel Shell, who are churning out 220-plus yards per game.
Will West Virginia win this one at home or does Texas come in and pull off a road upset?
