Dana White lashes out at Floyd Mayweather over rumoured Conor McGregor fight

Even in the midst of gearing up for a trilogy fight opposite current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Bantamweight king Dominick Cruz this Saturday (June 4, 2016) at UFC 199, perennial title contender Urijah Faber can’t seem to dodge the Conor McGregor boxing talks. This is what we do. And then we move onto the next fight and everybody wants to blow up the deal. What you try to do in a deal like this is you try to be as fair as you can be, and obviously the problem is that we have a deal.

Nate Diaz, the popular anti-hero who defeated McGregor in a welterweight match in March, is willing to grant a rematch with McGregor but wants the kind of payday typically reserved for boxers. “Now we’re running out of time”, White said during an appearance on The Herd. With the Diaz negotiations slowing the process, now the UFC is running out of time to put the fight together for UFC 202 on August 20 as planned. I’ve already got September 20 done.

With the date of UFC 202 fast approaching and the fight still in limbo, White indicated that the rematch might not be able to be made.

Gumming up the works, according to White, is that Diaz wants to blow up the deal he just signed earlier this year.

“So Conor is either going to have to pick a new opponent or lose that date”. “It’s just been tough”.

“Conor is obsessed with this rematch”.

Diaz is trying to renogotiate his contract to fight the Dubliner and won’t accept the money he is now being offered to fight the fetherweight champ.

And while few believe such a matchup will ever happen, Faber has a bit of advice for the UFC featherweight champion anyway: Don’t do it. If Diazis still adamant with his demand, it may affect Conor McGregor’s paycheck and the Irish fighter will not love that.

“People do want to see this fight again”, he said. Well, Dana has just given insight into two potential fights for him if the Diaz fight does not come to fruition. There is a greater possibility that it would be the victor between Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo, who will be fighting for the interim featherweight belt at UFC 200.
