Dana White Shuts Downs Diaz’s Desired Trilogy With Conor McGregor

“I’m not making excuses, but you should have finished me off”, Diaz said, directing his remarks at McGregor. After all, he agreed to give McGregor one after their first fight.

McGregor was the busier of the pair in the opening round, landing kicks to Diaz’s lead leg at will before sending the American crashing to the canvas courtesy of a vicious left strike. I’m the 145-pound champion and the 155-pound (division) is there. I’ve got to talk.I’m speaking to the new people now [WME-IMG], so I don’t know.

“I’m not doing (expletive) until we go for round three”.

It would be remembered that McGregor’s career had its highlight when he knocked Aldo out cold during their meeting past year at UFC 194 before going up to the welterweight division. Aldo won the interim belt with a unanimous decision victory over Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 last month.

There’s hardly a doubt that a third match between he and Diaz would do some of the biggest business in UFC history, and it could be tough to think that a second bout with Aldo would do the same.

Many people would love to watch McGregor and Diaz fight for a third time right away. Currently, the featherweight champ, McGregor (19-3) had lost to Diaz via a second-round submission in his most recent bout back in March after moving up to welterweight.

McGregor put that down to the resilience of Diaz: “He took them (punches) better than I expected”.

But it all may be moot.

The intense rivalry between McGregor and Diaz pushed their first fight and the rematch to astronomical levels of interest from fans across the world. Hopefully next time we’ll prepare a lot better.

Said White, “If I was Conor, I’d defend my title”. “I don’t know. I’ve got to sit down and see what’s next. It’s all good”, Diaz stressed in a separate interview with FOX Sports. Diaz and McGregor can go in other directions, but the real money is always in the rematch, especially if it’s a third one.
