KINGSTON, N.Y. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for eastern Ulster and western Dutchess counties, effective from noon to 8 p.m. today. Any storms that develop will produce very heavy rainfall.
The 22News Storm Team has declared Monday a Weather Alert Day due to the potential for unsafe heat and humidity and the possibility for some strong or severe thunderstorms later in the day. Lows will be warm and muggy, near 74 degrees.
And hot temperatures will continue through much of the week.
The heat will diminish very slightly with highs in the low to mid 90s the second half of the week.
Chances of these thunderstorms will be between 2pm and 10pm with the BEST chance between 3pm and 8pm.
And Sunday will be partly sunny with a high of 86 and a 40 percent chance of more showers and thunderstorms. Look for mostly sunny skies.
There is a chance of thunderstorms returning on Thursday night and Friday, when temperatures reach the high 80s, Walker said.
