‘Dancing with the Stars’ Gets Spooky, Axes Hayes Grier on Halloween Night
They danced their freestyle dance for their team dance. And which couple will be eliminated next on DWTS Season 21? On Monday, October 26, the show picked “Halloween Night” as the theme of the episode, turning the dance the competition into a horror festival. Bruno Tonioli similarly felt that way, but liked her confidence.

Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess were the first pair to dance that night, performing an Argentine tango as Frankenstien and his bride. “You think you’ve seen us on TV, but seeing us on ‘Dancing with the Stars: Live!’ is an experience like no other”. Captained by Bindi Irwin, #TeamWhoYouGonnaCall danced to the “Ghostbusters” theme song, with the men doing lifts with their partners while dancing on hover boards.
Hayes Grier and Emma Slater (waltz)The dance: Maybe this is that “stalking” quality that Bruno was saying Nick and Sharna’s tango should have had. Alexa PenaVega and Mark Ballas recovered from their lackluster Britney Spears routine with their Edwards Scissorhands themed Paso Doble. They tied for third with Andy Grammer and Allison Holker who danced an aggressive Paso Doble to Marilyn Manson’s “The lovely People”.
What the judges say: Bruno overpraises Hayes and calls him a “romantic” and “charming” Teen Wolf whose lines are impeccable.
Tamar Braxton and Valentin Chmerkovskiy danced a funhouse-inspired foxtrot. Alek earned 25 points. “You know, I’m not good with people scaring me”. But in the first true surprise elimination of Season 21, Hayes and Emma were the ones eliminated. The dance works the best when all eight team members are dancing together (and all look like professionals), but the misguided opening seconds will probably bring Derek’s streak to an end.
