Dancing With the Stars recap: ‘Semi-Finals’

After Tamar Braxton‘s withdrawal from the competition due to health concerns, let’s see how the remaining teams did in The Glitter Report! Conservationist Bindi Irwin, Big Time Rush singer Carlos PenaVega, Army National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos and Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter and their pro partners each had to do a dance that included another dance pro, a routine to a style of dance that the couple had never before performed on the show and a dance-off challenge against a competitor, with the victor earning 3 bonus points from the judges.

Individual Dances – Alek and Lindsay pulled off a ideal score tonight, but the news wasn’t so great for Nick Carter who received one of his lowest scores this season. Frontrunners Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough will showcase their charm in a salsa set to Sia’s “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile”, while Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson pay tribute to One Direction with a contemporary dance to “Drag Me Down”.

Last night on Dancing with the Stars Season 21, we had Bindi & Derek, Nick & Sharna, Carlos & Witney and Alek & Lindsay all fighting for a spot in the finals. While many fans asked for Alexa PenaVega to come back as Tamar Braxton dropped out only days after Alexa was voted off, she did not return but host Tom Bergeron did wait until the last moments to inform the final four that no one would be sent home because of Braxton’s earlier exit.

Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough went first on Dancing With The Stars.

Alek Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold: 30; 0; 27. “So you’re both dancing in the finale!” Communities is happy to see pro Peta Murgatroyd making her first appearance of Season 21 in the Trios, dancing with Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess. There will be live updates throughout the night on this article, so be sure to refresh for more. Dancing with the Stars spoilers detail that Bindi and Derek will go against Nick and Sharna in a samba.

Carrie Ann: This is where you shine your brightest, when you’re being steadfast and noble. Back then, he was in the thick of fame, using drugs and drink during that period of time.

Bruno: I feel like holiday season celebrations have started right here! The judge couldn’t believe how much “content” there was in those two dances, but he clearly preferred Bindi and Derek, as did his fellow panelists.

Next, they performed the dance-offs. First up were Carlos and Witney vs. Alek and Lindsay doing the cha-cha – predictably, Carlos and Witney won that one.

Carrie Ann: I thought it was a great way to start the semi-finals. One group did the Samba, the other performed a Cha Cha. In the skybox, Erin says the dance makes her want to go to Restoration Hardware immediately.

All I can say is WOW. (Yeah, we felt that way too whenever we saw that rope in gym class. Where were you, upper body strength?!?) For Bruno, the routine was get-out-of-his-chair fantastic.

“Dancing With The Stars” is involved in a homophobic scandal after the show’s producers did not allow a guy to guy performance. Users just like YOU often turn out to be our smartest prognosticators, so it’s important that you give us your predictions. “Well done, both of you”, Carrie Ann said.

Carrie Ann: It was over danced, especially in his face.

Bruno: A totally compelling work of genius. Carlos, too, knows that a little booty-shaking won’t hurt his scores, and overall, he and Witney look much more in control during their last minute cha-cha. There’s an awkward pause in the middle where it looks like they take a second to get back on the music, but it’s nice to see grownups on the dance floor.
