‘Dancing with the Stars’ Recap: The Top 9 Recreate Famous Dances
“I’m so excited”, Deen said, laughing after host Tom Bergeron announced the news. Allison explains that this dance is incredibly important to her and to the entire dance world, so Andy better not screw it up. “I’ve been like a fish outta water for six weeks”.

Olivia: I danced with Gene Kelly and I’d dance with you any time. “It was wonderful. It was worth it”. So Emma has her work cut out for her to sculpt the Vine star into John Travolta (she is already the living embodiment of Olivia Newton John). And, we’ve got a few added star power in the ballroom tonight: Dancing alum Leah Remini is on hand to fill in for Erin Andrews, who is covering baseball playoffs, and Olivia Newton-John is behind the table as a guest judge.
Olivia said Paula looked “gorgeous” and thought she “did Madonna proud”. Unfortunately, it’s the most visually appealing thing about this dance.
“I’m wondering what happened to that sexy little beast from last week?“, she questioned. Julianne called the dance “a true reinvention” of the original, and Olivia thought they “brought disco back”.
Alexa PenaVega and her pro partner Mark Ballas were also in jeopardy of going home tonight. Where is Bindi Irwin when you need her to swoop in and save that python?
They might’ve performed a jazz to Good Morning from Singin’ in the Rain, but it turned out to be a very good night for Andy and Allison. Her concerns were well founded when at the end of the routine all the judges admitted that they were very nervous that Andy would miss a step or forget his kicks or flicks and tarnish Gene Kelly’s reputation forever and ever. Able to rumba! Alek Skarlatos was nonetheless sporting his jazz shoes when he left Dancing With The Stars rehearsal in Hollywood on Sunday. “You were so good”.
Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough (rumba)The dance: Nobody puts Bindi in a corner!
Grammar earned the second flawless score of the competition – finally marking his breakout from the middle of the pack.
Bruno: My little star has gone supernova tonight!
What the judges say: Julianne tells Bindi her legs were “on fire”, and Olivia calls Bindi “enchanting”. Bindi was fun to watch, and Derek brought on the Patrick Swayze charm. But the dancing duo pulled it off with Irwin shouting, “We did it!”
Bruno: A bit of tough -love, I believe in your talent, but you have to rise to the next level.
Tamar Braxton and Val Chmerkovskiy (jazz)The dance: The black and white effect is pretty cool, but Tamar seems like she’s holding back a bit for this Janet Jackson number. “You take a note and then you hit back with that knockout”.
Carrie Ann: Tonight is really who you are, as a dancer. Julianne thought he “handled the shirt-tearing like a pro” and called it “the sexiest rumba I’ve ever seen”.
Paula Deen and Louis van Amstel delivered a Jazz dance to Madonna’s “Vogue” song, and got a very mediocre 24 score out of it. Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson performed a Rumba dance to Channing Tatum’s Magic Mike “Pony” strip dance.
Battling a cold and disappointing comments from the judges last week, Braxton staged the comeback of the season. Tonioli, for one, went wild.
“Every single week, you are getting better and better and these other guys better watch out”, said judge Julianne Hough.

Meanwhile, Newton John, star of the 1978 film, stuck to complimenting the teen on his energy. If you missed it we have a full and detailed recap, right here for you. Carrie Ann wanted to see her use more of Britney’s confidence, but Bruno called her “Sex Alexa” and thought it worked well.
