Daniel Amartey left out of Leicester City’s Community Shield defeat
It was a winning start to Jose Mourinho’s managerial career at Manchester United as the side claimed the first trophy of the season.

United beat Claudio Ranieri’s Premier League champions 2-1 at Wembley on Sunday thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s late headed victor, but Mourinho was quick to thank the Dutchman for his role in the triumph.
“We have good players, I don’t make us smaller than we are, but other teams have this role of being named as favourites to win the league, not Leicester City”.
“I’m really happy because it’s my first trophy”.
“That is new and we won today and hopefully we can win more”. “We need to change this”.
Jamie Vardy had cancelled out Jesse Lingard’s opener with his first goal of the season in the second half, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic headed home a late victor to hand United the first trophy of the 2016-17 season.
He said: “I think we said it previous year as well, a club like Manchester United always wants to play for titles”.
Mourinho, sacked by Chelsea last season, has won eight league titles in four different countries and is a two-time Champions League victor.
“If you look over the course of last season, Leicester worked very hard to be the champions of England, and we worked very hard to be able to win the FA Cup”.
The Portuguese, who lost the Community Shield to Arsenal last season while still manager of Chelsea, then made the surprise move to toast his predecessor – thanking van Gaal for delivering the FA Cup before his sacking just two days later. He’s not a fast player like Jamie Vardy, who can play 50 yards from the box.
The Foxes begin the defence of their title against newly promoted Hull City on 13 August.
“Second half we played very well”.
