Daniel Goodfellow ‘disappears’ following Olympic win with Tom Daley
Daley, who took a brilliant bronze in the individual event at London 2012, was teaming up with Goodfellow for the first time at an Olympics and faced a real battle in an event where China are totally dominant.

Meanwhile, Tom shared a photo of himself and diving partner Dan Goodfellow holding their bronze medals, along with the caption: “I can’t believe it!” I may be 20 years into sports TV presenting but I still can’t believe my luck that today I get to fly out for 12 hours and work on my third Olympic Games. He has a chance to win another medal later next week in an upcoming individual event.
“I’m so grateful to everyone at home that’s been supporting us and to get up and watch us at ridiculous hours of the morning”.
So we want to make sure Dan is swimming (sorry) in glory too.
Surrounded by family members in celebratory mood, he told the Press Association: “It’s really nail-biting but this is the pinnacle of it now – his first Olympic final and first Olympic medal”.
The 63-year-old said: “It’s worse watching than it is actually pulling the trigger”.
“We knew the Chinese would definitely win”.
Sharon did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Independent, but she did say thank you on Twitter yesterday evening for the “hundreds” of congratulatory messages she received.
“I wanted him to be focused out there, not worrying about what’s going on”.
Speaking after the victory Ling said his achievement had been “a long time coming”, adding that he hoped it was another of many medals for Team GB.
“Our fourth dive wasn’t fantastic but towards the back end of our list we have a really high degree of difficulty”.
“I do that every time I see Tom dive so we can see how everyone else is ranking and that helps me enjoy it more”.
Peaty dominated his first Olympic final, beating second-place South African swimmer Cameron van der Burgh by a body length and slicing almost half a second off the world record mark he set in qualifying. “He doesn’t like the heat so Rio was never the best place for him to perform”.
Of course, I’m mostly concentrating on Team GB, but I couldn’t not mention Oksana Chusovitina of Uzbekistan who is competing in her seventh Olympic Games.
Britain’s men’s gymnastics team narrowly missed out on bronze as they finished fourth, Louis Smith falling off the pommel during a complex routine to leave China in third place as Japan took the gold.

On Sunday Lizzie Armitstead could only manage fifth in the women’s road race and fencer Richard Kruse lost an incredibly close bronze medal match in the foil.
