Detroit Tigers pitcher Daniel Norris says surgery to remove a malignant growth on his thyroid was successful and he is cancer free. Norris is now cancer free.
On Thursday, Norris posted a few good news on his personal Instagram account danielnorris18, saying “I just want to thank everyone for the thoughts & prayers”.
Norris, 22, was 2-1 in eight starts for the Tigers this past season after being acquired from the Blue Jays at the trade deadline.
“I was given the option to shut my year down and get it removed immediately”, Norris said.

Tigers general manager Al Avila said on October 19 that the team knew about Norris’ cancer prior to the July 30 trade of left-handed ace David Price, and that Norris is expected to make a full recovery for spring training. At the time Norris was told by his doctor that he would still be able to complete the season with no threat of the cancer progressing and getting any worse.
