Daniel Sturridge Expresses Frustration at Current Role for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp insists Daniel Sturridge remains an “outstanding player” and has vowed to stick by the injury-prone striker.

Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino are the men Jurgen Klopp has played through the middle so far and Sturridge said: ‘Of course it’s more hard for me to play wide.

The result was put beyond all doubt in the 78th minute when Milner set up Daniel Sturridge who had a straight forward tap-in for the 4-0 scoreline.

“Everyone knows where I enjoy playing the most”, Sturridge told British media. I am on autopilot there.

Liverpool played 63 matches in the previous campaign on their way to the League Cup and Europa League finals and he was forced to use a number of youngsters and fringe players during the busy December/January period just to give some of his squad a much-needed break. It’s just a different way.

While I did say that having him play deep doesn’t reveal his best qualities, I wasn’t going as far as some fans who suggested Divock Origi should now be our best striker and Sturridge doesn’t work for our team.

Asked whether he was happy playing out wide, Sturridge added: “Well, I have to do a job for the team”. It’s a team game. Daniel is a very smart player in hiding himself in positions where it is not easy to defend and it is very often in a wing position.

“Like I said, it’s not that you play there and wait for something to happen”.

“We will make changes but not big changes, it is not really likely we change seven or eight positions”, he said.

Liverpool executive Jurgen Klopp took off only four upgrades from the XI that started in the 2-0 affiliation defeat at Burnley on Saturday.

“That’s absolutely no problem”.

We are getting a more than acceptable price to bet on Tottenham and I am going to be putting on a medium sized bet since anything to small is losing value while it is not good enough to over bet. I don’t want to play Daniel as a wide player, but he can play there.

The 26-year-old, whose Liverpool record stands at 55 goals in 94 appearances in all competitions after his Burton brace, explained that it is “more difficult” for him to “play wide” because he is “a centre-forward”. I don’t know exactly what he said, but we have talks. “It’s flexible football, passing movements, patterns, and all these things”.
