With 15 goals, four wins and one draw from their five away games under Jurgen Klopp, a very clear pattern is beginning to emerge.

Much has been spoken about Klopp’s favoured “gegenpressing” system, with which he inspired such success at Borussia Dortmund and has worked well during his short time at Anfield.

Full report to follow… “I’m not sure it will be good to see the fans, they booed Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren [in previous encounters], so hopefully they’ll get the stick”.

Liverpool have already beaten Manchester City and Chelsea on the road in the Premier League this season, highlighting Klopp’s positive impact.

Sturridge soon added a second courtesy of a brilliant assist from Emre Can and Origi turned in an Alberto Moreno shot in the final minute of the half to conclude a devastating three-goal spell.

The Merseyside club have lost just one game in 10 in all competitions since the German took over from Brendan Rodgers in October and Lallana says Klopp’s passion was evident before his first game in charge against Tottenham Hotspur on October 17.

Christian Benteke is the player thrusted with the responsibility of heading the attack and the big Belgian is more than capable of making life hard for the makeshift Southampton central defence.

Last time Southampton went beyond quarter final stage was in 1987, losing to opponents Liverpool in the semi-final.

Adam Bogdan has insisted he is happy to remain patient and await his chance to become Liverpool’s No 1 goalkeeper.

Bogdan has been preferred to regular number one Simon Mignolet throughout the competition so far and looks set to get the nod again against the Saints.

Will Southampton or Liverpool win this evening?

Lucas is available after suspension and could come into the side at the expense of Joe Allen or James Milner.

Fonte has started all league matches so far this season, but was replaced by Steven Caulker in the 36th minute at the weekend after sustaining a cut to his knee.

“Then we have the resurgence under Jurgen Klopp and everyone going insane because they’re up to sixth in the Premier League”.
