Daniels won’t try to replace Pence if he’s Trump’s VP pick
Trump said following Pence’s introduction.

Trump hasn’t made an official announcement yet – he is planning to do that Friday in NY, at 10 a.m. central time.
Both candidates spoke as French authorities were still clearing dead bodies from the streets of Nice, where a truck loaded with weaponry plowed over revelers at a Bastille Day fireworks celebration on the waterfront.
Mr Trump’s campaign planned to announce his selection on Friday, but cancelled the event because of the attack in Nice, France.
“I would think it’s going to happen before we go to Cleveland”, he said.
“But, I haven’t really studied him that carefully”, she said.
“Several people called, we talked about the options, timelines, what the requirements would be”, said Coffey.
“Trump has said this repeatedly and has been called out for his blatant lies about it”, she said, adding that refugees would only be admitted after they were thoroughly screened.
The billionaire real estate mogul, who has never held public office, had also been considering former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who was once a Republican candidate rival of Trump.
“His vice president candidate isn’t going to make a lot of difference, I don’t think, in whether people will vote for him or not”. Pence was seen by TV networks arriving at a New York-area airport. Traditionally, the vice-presidential choice is used to build enthusiasm among party loyalists. After Cruz dropped his bid for the Republican nomination, he quickly endorsed presumptive nominee Trump – a move some of his fellow GOP governors, like Ohio Gov. John Kasich, have been reluctant to make.
What is clear is that Mr. Trump needs an experienced hand to deal with Congress, negotiate with its power brokers, and skillful in the “art of the deal”, otherwise known as “compromise”. “He’ll be able to defend him as well as be a cheerleader but do it in a calm, cool, collected manner that will preserve his credibility”. He told CNN that he had meetings in the city for the campaign – before specifying that it was for the Pence campaign, not Trump’s.
The Indiana governor has also echoed Trump’s critique of the President’s preferred terminology for terrorist groups. “Of course it bothers you a little bit”.
Pence, 57, a former congressman, is seen as a safe choice, not too flashy but popular among conservatives with Midwestern appeal.
The New York businessman has also said he might come up with a little-known surprise pick.
Trump, a political novice, has said for weeks that he wanted a running mate who could help him work with Congress.
A born-again Christian, Pence is socially conservative, especially on issues of abortion and LGBT rights.
Mr Pence has a low profile outside Washington and Indiana.
And Pence has previously taken issue with some of Trump’s national security proposals, calling his proposal to ban Muslim foreigners from entering the US “offensive and unconstitutional” in a December tweet.
“[Pence] has been in support of Barack Obama, his Trans-Pacific Partnership trade pact that Donald Trump says he wants to tear up”.
