Danny strengthened into the first hurricane of the 2015 Atlantic hurricane season Thursday morning.

The storm is now quite small, with hurricane-force winds extending only 10 miles, the hurricane center said.
Tropical Storm Danny was looking more like a tropical storm on Thursday morning, according to hurricane center forecasters.
Danny is now 1,090 miles east of Windward Islands, and moving west-northwest at 12 mph.
Danny has slightly increased in strength since Thursday when it became the first hurricane of the 2015 season. And the National Hurricane Center says its models suggest that Danny won’t be making landfall anywhere in the U.S., though that might change.
“We will see a couple of stronger storms, with lightning and strong wind gusts, as well as heavy downpours”, Bridges said.
“Some additional strengthening is forecast during the next 24 hours, but a weakening trend is expected to begin after that”.
Hurricane Danny has strengthened into a Category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds of 105 miles per hour. The two missions are hoped to provide forecasters a better assessment of the storm’s structure and intensity, the hurricane center reported.
No watches or warnings have been issued.
At most, only one of the storms is expected to develop into a major hurricane, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
During an El Nino season, the global weather patterns tend to suppress the formation of Atlantic hurricanes.
Small but potent Hurricane Danny continues to swirl through the open waters of the central tropical Atlantic Ocean. Danny may also pose a threat to Puerto Rico by early next week.
