Louisville’s 43-point walloping of Florida State on Saturday made the biggest impression in a weekend full of stunning developments as the Cardinals climbed to third in The Associated Press poll behind Alabama and Ohio State.
The advice goes for No. 1 Alabama, which made up an early 24-3 deficit and survived a late scare to beat No. 19 MS (1-2, 0-1 Southeastern Conference), 48-43, in Oxford, improving to 3-0, 1-0. The Buckeyes moved up one spot after an emphatic 45-24 victory at Oklahoma.
Jackson ran for four touchdowns and threw for one more as Louisville got their biggest regular season win ever, pummeling the Seminoles as if they stole Grandma’s Bingo money in Saturday’s 63-20 smack-down.

Past September winners Geno Smith and Kenny Hill can attest that this honor brings a ton of extra attention and unnecessary questions during a hectic college football season. The Rebels gave yet another lead away on their way to their second loss of the season. The Cardinals also held FSU (2-1, 0-1) to 284 yards and forced two turnovers. After the two games against Auburn and Troy, the Tigers ranked No. 9 in the ACC in total defense, allowing 324 yards per game. OR (2-1) dropped out after losing 35-32 at Nebraska.
