Modi will also interact with members of the Indian community, which numbers around 50,000 in Tanzania.

Modi said that he and Kenyatta recognised that terrorism and the rapid spread of radical ideologies posed a common challenge to the people of both countries, to the region and to the whole world. “We share common legacy of struggle against colonialism”.

“Today, in our inter-dependent world, India’s growth story is one of the brightest spots”, Modi said. “It (dynamism) is defined by our commitment to change the face of the Indian economy”.

Talking about “India’s rise”, the prime minister said it was happening because of its 800 million youth. He said his government wants enterprises to flourish, businesses to grow and the country to rise.

The Prime Minister said India and Kenya are two developing countries and also two innovative societies. Modi is on his third leg of Africa tour. Modi also laid out blueprints for future cooperation, in the face of competition from China.

Naik said he was ready to cooperate with Indian investigation agencies, but had so far received no communication from them seeking any information. He said, Indian investment in Tanzania stands at around 3 billion dollars.

“The embrace of our partnership is open to the larger good of Africa and our friends like South Africa”, he stated. “We will also be happy to enhance the level of investment in Kenya”, he said addressing the AIndia-Kenya Business Forum.

ARUSHA, Tanzania (Xinhua) – Tanzania has called on Indian investors to invest in large-scale farming and other potential sectors for the east African nation to realize its ambition of becoming a middle-income country before 2025. “Such an effort would help us produce life-saving drugs needed by so many of our citizens, including ARVs (antiretroviral drugs)”.

Noting historical ties with Kenya provide a basis for partnerships, Modi thanked Uhuru for his kind words and hospitality.

Other areas of co-operation include a revised agreement on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income on the Bureau of India Standards and Kenya Bureau of Standards, and exemption of visa for diplomatic passport holders.

The Prime Minister said the main driving force of India’s steadfast march on the path of development was “the resolve, desire and hard work of 1.25 billion Indians”. “We can work together in many ways, from defence to milk, hardware to software, medicine to medical tourism”.
