Now, a more terrestrial bit of daredevilry offers similar vicarious thrills-similarly brought to viewers by Red Bull. Laslo Schaller set a world record recently for the highest cliff jump in Maggia, Switzerland, and filmed it from every possible angle.
Here’s the full video of Schaller’s record-breaking leap – if your stomach can handle it. First, Schaller and his team built a platform to give him a clean, controlled exit, with enough projection to clear the rock wall. To make the landing softer, his team also placed six tanks in the landing pool, which was only 8 meters in depth, to aerate the water. From almost 200 feet up, Schaller was jumping into an 8-meter deep pool of aerated water. “The only difference is the airtime”. The impact was akin to a gunshot, resulting in a mad scramble by rescuers who had to drag him back to dry land.
Schaller reached a speed of 76mph as he hit the water, Gizmodo notes.

He was later checked over by medical staff and was found to have pulled his right leg out slightly and to have possibly dislocated his right hip for a second – a small price to pay for a new world record.
