Daredevils climb Eiffel Tower, hide from guards

It’s fair to say YouTuber James Kingston is a bit of an adrenaline junkie.

The “free running” enthusiast – who previously climbed to the top of the Wembley Stadium arch – has put together a nerve-shredding video of his exploits.

Kingston claimed he had initially planned to buy tickets and sneak out of a stairway, but abandoned the idea because the landmark was too busy. The pair started their climb at 1 a.m. under cover of darkness. Once we reached about 20 metres up the side of the tower it appeared we’d made it through what would normally be the riskiest part of any climb.

“It was clear we’d been spotted so we legged it down a few stories and found a couple of holes inside the framework that we had no choice but to hide in”.

He said after a close call with security, he had a “few more hours playing around on the tower” before he was finally caught by security at 9am and handed over to the police.

“Hours went by with security going up and down with torches and they even turned on all of the towers lights during their search”, he said.

According to his YouTube Channel, Mr Kingston was released without charge after agreeing not to climb the Eiffel Tower again for at least three years.

By 9am, the climbers decided to make their way back down the tower, where they were met by security, handcuffed and taken to the police station for questioning.

Maybe the elevators were broken and you had to take the stairs, so you jokingly told your friends you climbed the tower.

But that was no problem for Kingston, whose footage has been viewed more than 130,000 times.

Mr Kingston added: “I can now officially tick the Eiffel Tower off my list”.
